Chris Greer

Chris Greer | President/CEO

chrisgreer@nelsongreerpainting.com

Chris has been working in the painting industry since 1972 and has served as president of Nelson J. Greer Painting since 1985. His father, Nelson, believed that to excel in the industry, one should understand the paint business from the ground up. Thus, Chris started working during the summers and weekends while going to school until starting full time in 1980. Since taking over as president, Nelson Greer Painting has completed over $150 million dollars in painting, employed thousands painters, won several awards, and increased the scope of business to include the entire State of Arizona as well as projects in California and New Mexico.

As a native Tucsonan, Chris has always been an active member of the community both personally and professionally. He is an active member of industry-related associations including the Arizona Construction Trades (ACT), Arizona Builder’s Alliance (ABA), and serving as a past president of the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America (PDCA). He also sat on the Board for the Arizona Prompt Payment Act and contributed to legislation for the industry. As an active member of PDCA, Chris has helped generate thousands of dollars for the Center of Women and Children. Over the past 10 years, Chris has successfully organized many other charity events that have benefited the Tucson community. Chris has actively mentored several of his foreman enabling them to start their own business and continues to provide consulting enabling their continued success.

Chris’ expertise in the industry has enabled him to have a consultative approach to negotiations and project planning with general contractors, owners, and developers. As a skilled craftsman, Chris has had decades of experience learning how to match colors, create special finishes, finish wood, special paint systems, paint problem solving, plastics, textures, floor coatings, specialty caulking, wall-covering, all phases of Faux painting (see project page), as well as specializing in CMAR projects, design build, theme projects, color, and budgets.

Brian Greer | Vice President/SEVP

bgreer@nelsongreerpainting.com

Brian, like Chris, has been working in the paint industry since he was an early teen, spending summers working for the company in the shop, and as he got older out in the field. While attending college, he worked part time during the school year in the office learning how to estimate and put together paint proposals. During the summers, he would often manage numerous job sites in addition to providing estimates.

Brian started full-time after graduating from the University of Arizona in December of 2009. Since then he has gained a lot of invaluable experience as an estimator and a project manager. He has taken the time to learn about the products, equipment, and skills needed to complete a high-quality paint job. Some of the projects he is most proud of to date include the renovation of McKale Center ( The University of Arizona’s basketball arena), Tucson Premium Outlets, and Fountainhead Plaza (located in Tempe, AZ) to name a few.

He has also been an active member in the paint and local communities. He served as the President of the PDCA’s Tucson chapter for two years from 2011-2012. He has also helped organize and run paint crews for numerous charity projects around Tucson.

Torrey Graham | Field Operations Manager

torrey@nelsongreerpainting.com

Torrey has worked with Nelson Greer Painting since he was 17 years old. He began as a helper/laborer in the summer of 2006. Determined to move up the ladder he took it upon himself to learn the tricks of the trade and obtain the skills necessary to do so. He took advantage of any chance he was given to put himself in a better position, whether it was traveling out of town for jobs, learning to operate an airless paint sprayer, and even learning specialty skills such as polyurethane caulking, epoxy flooring and faux finishes just to name a few.

He was put in a truck and became a foreman in just about a years time. He started running smaller crews and completing T.I.s, but his work ethic, talents and leadership abilities made him one of the top foreman in the company and an obvious choice to run some of the bigger more high profile jobs. Some of the projects Torrey was the lead foreman on and is the most proud of are Monsato, Williams Center, Veranda at Ventana, The Mark, 333 Wetmore and 1 West Broadway.

Torrey holds lift certifications for both scissor and aerial boom lifts and is a certified trainer in lift operation.  He has completed both OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 courses as well as numerous other safety programs. Torrey prides himself on providing a safe jobsite for his crews and delivering a quality finished project for our clients. No one is a harsher critic on the quality of our work than Torrey will be.
